Cultivating a Spirit of Collaboration for a Suicide-Safer State (A Panel Discussion)

BRIEF OUTLINE/DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENTATION
Goals of this panel discussion:
This session will provide participants with:
• A framing of traditional state prevention structures and SPRC recommendations
• The details of restructuring of Indiana’s Transformation Team including suicide prevention, crisis
response and disaster behavioral health
• An introduction to the Indiana Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
• An overview of LivingWorks Education’s presence in Indiana
• An understanding of why a collaborative approach is vital to foster from an authoritative position
• A review at the challenges and successes in cultivating a collaborative spirit in statewide
prevention
• A look forward towards future goals and plans for the landscape of prevention in Indiana

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to compare traditional state prevention structures and SPRC recommendations
  • Participants will be able to assess the details of restructuring Indiana's Transformation Team, which included work with suicide prevention, crisis response teams, and disaster behavioral health.
  • Participants will be able to describe the historical presence of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and LivingWorks Education in Indiana.
  • Participants will be able to analyze the challenges and successes in cultivating a collaborative spirit in statewide prevention
  • participants can plan for changing landscapes of statewide prevention plans in Indiana and beyond
