Sarah Gaer is a mental health professional with over 25 years of experience specializing in trauma, substance use and mental health disorders, and suicide prevention. A suicide loss survivor, she has dedicated her career to helping individuals and communities navigate grief, trauma, and resilience. Sarah holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University. She has trained over 1,000 individuals in suicide prevention techniques, leading crisis response efforts in the wake of suicides, homicides, natural disasters, and terrorist attacks.
Sarah is the creator of Soul Exhaustion and Soul Care, a groundbreaking approach that explores the profound emotional toll of trauma, grief, and adversity on the human spirit. Through her keynote speeches, workshops, and training sessions, she helps individuals recognize and heal from soul-level fatigue, offering hope and renewal. Her work reframes mental health through the lens of the soul, providing a unique, compassionate perspective on well-being.
As a consultant and trainer for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, Sarah specializes in mental health and suicide prevention for law enforcement. She is a National Trainer for Psychological First Aid and advocates for evidence-based mental health practices and suicide prevention training.
Sarah has presented at national and international conferences. She is the author of The Price and Goodnight Grace and co-author of Guts, Grit & The Grind, which highlights men’s mental health. She serves as Chair of the Central Massachusetts Suicide Prevention Coalition and sits on the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention.
When not working, Sarah finds joy hiking with her Bernese Mountain Dogs, traveling in her RV, and spending time with family. Her mission is to bring healing, hope, and transformation to those struggling with soul exhaustion and mental health challenges.
