Christopher Wojnar, MSN, PMHNP-BC, APNP, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, international speaker, author, and mental health advocate dedicated to suicide prevention, workplace well-being, and health worker mental health. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Empowered Psychiatric Solutions, where he combines his lived experience as a suicide attempt survivor with professional expertise to advance compassionate, stigma-free mental health care.
Wojnar has over a decade of experience in healthcare, including psychiatric and critical care nursing. He has been a key voice in suicide prevention policy and health system initiatives, serving on multiple suicide prevention boards, including the Milwaukee County Suicide Review Commission and the Wisconsin Nurses Association Workforce Advocacy Council. He played a pivotal role in integrating Zero Suicide principles into healthcare settings and has worked to advance policies that protect health workers' mental health and confidentiality.
His advocacy is deeply personal - both Wojnar and his teenage daughter are suicide attempt survivors who have transformed their lived experience into a father-daughter platform for education and change. Together, they share their journey to break stigma, promote open conversations, and empower families in suicide prevention.
As an international speaker, Wojnar presents at national and global conferences, providing research-based insights on suicide prevention, workplace mental health, and the intersection of nursing and mental health advocacy. His work is featured in publications, research articles, and policy discussions, helping to drive systemic change and enhance suicide prevention efforts across communities.
Through his leadership, education, and advocacy, Wojnar continues to inspire resilience, advance policy reform, and equip individuals and organizations with practical tools to prevent suicide and support mental health.
