I am a Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health at the Ohio State University (OSU) at the Stress, Trauma, and Resilience Suicide Prevention Program (STRIVE) in Columbus, Ohio. My clinical interests focus on the study of suicide (prevention, assessment, and treatment) and the phenomenology of trauma. I am mainly intrigued by how to apply risk management strategies to manage suicide risk.
My research program aims to develop and validate integrated models of the processes that underlie suicidal ideation and the transition to suicidal behaviors that are responsive to brief, efficacious intervention in understudied and high-risk populations, particularly people with chronic pain, veterans, and military personnel. I have presented at conventions and offered workshops, lectures, and supervisions nationally and internationally. Over the past 22 years, I have completed several professional trainings in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brief-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (BCBT), Ericksonian Hypnosis, Structural Family Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT).
