Suicide Prevention Manager Southeast USA / Trainer
LivingWorks Education
Middleburg, Florida, United States
Alan Mednick is a passionate advocate for mental health and suicide prevention, driven by personal loss and a deep commitment to helping others. After losing his daughter, Raven, and niece, Ayla, to suicide—and witnessing his son’s mental health struggles—Alan dedicated his life to raising awareness, bringing hope to those struggling with mental health, supporting those in crisis, and empowering communities with life-saving skills.
As the Southeast Suicide Prevention Manager for LivingWorks, Alan leads efforts to expand suicide prevention training across diverse communities. He is a certified trainer in ASIST and safeTALK and advocates for integrating suicide prevention into universities, healthcare, military, first responders, and community settings, with the message: "Everyone has a role to play, and we all can help save a life."
Alan has been an active member of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) since 2013, serving as a North Florida Board Member, Field Ambassador, Trainer, and co-chair of the Florida Advocacy Team. He has held leadership roles on various AFSP committees, helping organize key events, including the Stand Up for Hope fundraiser. Alan is also the Palm Beach County Regional Director for the Florida Suicide Prevention Coalition, co-lead for Lethal Means Safety on The Florida Governor's Challenge, and a volunteer and trainer with NAMI.
In addition to advocacy, Alan created RealConvo, a mental health radio show with iHeart that became a nationally televised program dedicated solely to mental health. He founded the Sudbury Ravens, a youth baseball team combining sports with mental health awareness. Alan’s expertise has been featured on television, webinars, and as a speaker at events and roundtables addressing mental health policy.
Alan’s mission is rooted in authenticity and connection. He believes in breaking the silence around mental health, encouraging open conversations, and empowering communities to prevent suicide through education, compassion, and action.
