Christel Joel Tajouoh is a 3rd year Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland, school of social work, specializing in Latinx adolescent mental health and suicide prevention. His research focuses on the role of social determinants, such as socioeconomic status, immigration status, and social position, on suicidal behaviors among Latinx adolescents. As a clinical licensed certified social worker, Christel has extensive clinical experience providing DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) in English, Spanish, and French. Currently, he is a graduate teaching assistant at the School of Social Work, where he teaches social work with individuals and advanced clinical methods. Christel's work aims to inform contextually responsive and inclusive intervention and prevention strategies that promote mental health equity.
