Research Program Coordinator II
Medical College of Wisconsin
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States
Jacey M. Kant (she/her) is a Research Program Coordinator in the Division of Suicide Research and Healing in the Comprehensive Injury Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). She earned Bachelors of Science degrees in Psychology and Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2020. In the spring of 2025, she began working towards her Master of Public Health (MPH) through MCW. She has been working on suicide-focused research studies for over four years and has been mentored by experts in the field who primarily come from public health and clinical psychology backgrounds.
Upon obtaining her MPH, Jacey aspires to gain entrance into a PhD program in Clinical Psychology. She hopes to conduct her own research on suicide and work clinically with underserved and underrepresented populations. Broadly, her research interests include suicide and suicide prevention, increased access to culturally appropriate mental healthcare, and forensic psychology. Specifically, she is interested in the impacts of criminal justice system involvement and incarceration on mental health and suicide risk, evaluating suicide risk and protective factors among cultural minority groups with a particular interest in the LGBTQ+ community, and the effects of repeated concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) on short- and long-term mental health and suicide risk. She is passionate about implementing and improving upstream suicide prevention measures, leveraging data to influence policy change, improving mental healthcare and increasing its access to marginalized populations, and disrupting harmful systems.
Outside of work, Jacey enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her one-eyed rescue pitty, Carmen, reading, watching sitcoms and reality TV, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, and attending concerts, music festivals, and drag shows. She is also a part-time dance instructor at Foursis Dance - New Berlin teaching various dance forms to kiddos and teens.
